I have known Richard Dolmat for the past 6 years, and in my opinion he is an engineer, musician and teacher of the highest calibre. When we first came to work with Rich, we were a fairly inexperienced and unruly lot, who knew little about the art of recording. From day one Richard has been nothing but patient and supportive in his dealings with us and because of that we have been able to learn a lot from him. Having worked with Rich for some time now, I believe that Richard’s patience comes from his love for what he does. Beyond that, he is a patient person because, simply put, he is a nice guy.

I think the most positive aspect of working with Richard is that he is such a good person. There are many talented, hard working people in our industry, and Richard is certainly both of those things, but there are few who possess the solid character and congenial personalty that Richard does. More over, working Rich is just a lot of fun and that is what making music should be: fun. Rich loves what he does and it is this ingredient that makes him such a joy to work with. Indeed, he is a friend of this band and of many of the other musicians that he works with.

I recently had the pleasure of Richard Dolmat's assistance on my 35mm production Three Dances. I would like to take this opportunity to praise Richard's efforts and the excellent results of his work at the Digital Sound Magic Recording Studio. Knowing that Richard is an established member of the Vancouver audio production community, I would like to add a few good words to the acclaim I am certain he has received throughout his career. As the Sound Recordist of my production, Richard achieved the colour and clarity I had hoped to hear in the sound track of Three Dances. He added a touch of refinement to each of my audio requests and the results of his his work are not only technically perfect, but acoustically delightful.

I traveled from Athens, Greece, where I currently reside to produce Three Dances, and upon arrival I immediately asked Richard about his availability and interest in my production. Richard proved himself to be one of the most committed members of my crew. Richard was a rich source of information for me and I drew extensively from his advice regarding the technical and aesthetic concerns of my production.
I commend Richard on his diligence, his precision and his thoroughness in accomplishing his highly demanding task of recording location sound and also musical instruments in his audio recording studio. The takes we recorded together were all technically perfect. It became evident from the digital audio Richard recorded that Three Dances would have the spectacular sound track I envisioned.

I would like to thank Richard for his passionate commitment to my project. It was obvious from the beginning that Richard made the quality of Three Dances his top priority as audio recordist. He was sincerely concerned with the impact his work would have on the quality of the Three Dances production, both technically and artistically. Richard's concentration on set is very worthy of note, he always responded instantly to all requests regardless of the interval between takes. I was amazed by Richard's talent and by his wonderful attitude toward every task at hand.
